And Now, This Musical Interlude …

Monday night’s home game vs. Waterville saw the debut of the Coaches Vs. Cancer Infinite Playlist Memorial Warmup Mix Tape … or something like that.

Folks contributed to Coaches Vs. Cancer for the honor of having the song of their choice included in the pregame music play for the JV and Varsity games against Waterville.

See the entire playlist.

Oddly enough, missing from this musical materpiece assembled by Dr. David Haswell were several songs that had been suggested:

As they are fond of saying in sports: “Wait’ll next year!”

Tie Watch 2008-2009 found out that it was the negotiation skills of Dave Haswell Jr. that brought the mix tape together. Thank you!

Tie Number Two from Feb. 2, 2009. Floyd and Marilyn Poupore contributed what must be one of the more sedate ties, which Dave wore during his team’s 49-40 win against Waterville.

Tie Number One from Feb. 2, 2008. One might think that Coach Rhyde wore two ties for tonights game vs. Waterville because it was Feb. 2, or 2/2/09. Nope, he has more times than games left so wore this one during the JV’s huge 65-61 overtime win Monday. HCS Athletic Director Bill Dowsland made sure this Tazmanian Devil tie was properly tied. It was contributed by Rhyde’s colleagues from the village offices John Rathbone and Village Clerk Ronda Wynn.

Catching Up Part Two. This tie — covered in pink breast cancer remembrance ribbons — was made possible by Cliff and Alana Scheckler. Dave wore this for Saturday’s win at Morrisville-Eaton.

Catching Up Part One: This is the tie that proved there was a new sheriff in town. This Texas tie was furnished by retired HCS principal Dana Chapman and his wife Linda. It was a keepsake from their recent trip to Texas. How thoughtful!

Coach Dave Rhyde commenting on the tie he wore at the DeRuyter game: “I didn’t know they made colors that ugly.” The tie was donated by Marie & gary Jacobsen. (Not that there is any connection to the tie, but Hamiklton lost to DeRuyter.)

Forget about a coat of many colors, Coach Dave Rhyde’s fashion accessory at the West Canada Valley game Friday was a tie of many, many colors, contributed by Karen and Drew Uhlig.
To date, Dave’s tie splurge has raised some $630 for Coaches vs. Cancer. His wife Debbie (unofficial Keeper of the Ties & Cash) said so many more ties have been contributed to the cause that it appears her husband will have to start wearing two per game.
